So I am writing this part of my blog as I travel this final leg of my journey which is a novel experience usually it is an account of what has happened and not what is happening.
My final stop is to be Calgary near Banff as I had found a cheap ticket back home. I had booked the ticket early November anticipating my need to see my family and had planned it to be a surprise for them. The plan is to turn up outside my house and Skype them telling them to open the door, whether this happens I'm not sure. I think my family miss me too!!!!
The problem was I wanted a full 5 days in New York and to experience Thanksgiving and Black Friday to do this I could only leave New York on the 24th November and the greyhound journey would take 3 days and my discovery pass ran out on the 26th. See the problem so I decided to risk it and if I was to come up with any issues just flutter my eyelids and claim "me speak no English!!!" lol.
So on Saturday after waking up with a hangover I got ready and set off to the bus terminal, after a few mishaps ( one train just pissing off passed the station, then missing my stop and having to go back up and finally trying to get to my level using the designated lift which was nowhere to be seen and instead getting filthy looks as I carried my suitcase down the stairs!!!) I got on to a very packed bus .
The journey itself from New York to Thunderbay was uneventful but the scenery gorgeous and luckily for me from Toronto onwards the bus was empty enough for me to have my own 2 seats and put my feet up. But in Thunderbay our bus broke down and we had to wait 12 hours till our next bus. So now I'm panicking as I will seriously be over my expiry on my pass but the attendant looks at me, smiles and calmly extends the pass genius. So how we spent 12 hours cooped up in this station and our bus ( which had the heating on so we could sleep on it) I do not know but in the morning when we saw how many people came with the next bus I realised I'm gonna be in a packed bus again. Which it was until Winnipeg. After this stop the bus journey has been fine, my feet are swollen as they normally are on this type of journey and I have met some nice people ( 2 lovely French girls travelling east almost the whole journey with me) but it is the effect of the snow which has made, one of the dreariest parts of the journey, simply stunning!
So this final leg is draining me of everything my ankles hurt and I feel roasted as the heating is on and the sun is blasting, it's getting so hot in here I wanna take off all my clothes!!!! I won't as I'm just not that type of girl.... But Calgary is getting very close only 6 hours away.
and it came and went so fast as i flew out the next day
thank you for reading
